Retrieve bibliographic metadata for a known DOI as JSON. AUN provides a free research preview without registration, payment or an API key. The underlying metadata source is Crossref.

The required doi query parameter accepts a DOI or a DOI URL such as https://doi.org/10.1038/nphys1170. URL-encode the query value. Input is limited to 250 characters. AUN normalizes case and removes a DOI URL prefix.

Errors use a JSON error field. Requests to the provider have an eight-second timeout and a 1 MB response limit.
AUN covers Crossref records only. It does not provide full text, validate scientific claims or guarantee complete retraction information. Missing updates do not establish that a paper has not been retracted. A source hash documents byte integrity, not scientific validity.
The frontend is hosted on Vercel and forwards requests to the Hostinger backend. The backend sends the DOI to Crossref. No account or persistent result database is required by this preview. Hosting providers may retain operational access logs.
Research preview: no availability guarantee. Successful requests do not demonstrate that agents can discover AUN without an introduction; that experiment remains pending.
